An in-depth examination of environmental changes that many believe are caused by human adaptations to the Earth’s natural resources, and the possible effects on both the global biosphere and the human condition. Scientific and social issues are explored through various questions: Is global warming really happening? Will sea levels rise as predicted by some? What are the consequences of massive deforestation? What can be done when there is so much scientific uncertainty and global social diversity? The concept of sustainability, as it applies to human interactions with the environment, is emphasized.
